Ashes of Creation will allow players to progress vertically, through experience gain, with a primary archetype and also horizontally with a secondary, or "augment" archetype. There are 8 archetypes confirmed: Tank, Fighter, Rogue, Summoner, Cleric, Bard, Mage, Ranger. A player may select any of the 8 archetypes for their primary and secondary archetype; resulting in a total of 64 possible classes.
In order to do select an adventurer class, the player has to pick the characters primary and secondary archetypes. The first archetype will be the primary archetype. It is choosen during the character creation.
After entering the world, progressing the initial adventurer class and traveling down the road, the player has to choose a secondary archetype.[1]
